Unit Description The Challenge Education Program is a journey that gives students the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. Students discover techniques and skills such as cooperation, respect, communication, problem solving and trust that are needed to accomplish given tasks. Students are guided along their journey in a safe environment that values successes as much as failures. Through discussion, students learn to make connections between class experiences and real life situations.
Essential Learning Standard 21.A.5a Demonstrate individual responsibility through use of various team-building strategies in physical activity settings (e.g., etiquette, fair play, self-officiating, coaching, organizing a group activity).
21.B.5a Demonstrate when to lead and when to be supportive to accomplish group goals.
1A.5a. Evaluate how expressing one’s emotions in different situations affects others.
1A.5b. Evaluate how expressing more positive attitudes influences others.
2B.5a. Evaluate strategies for being respectful of others and opposing stereotyping and prejudice.
